If we have two choices, for instance, A and B, we use a rising intonation for A and a falling intonation for B. Following trends?Ata school meeting,quiteafewteachers and students expressedtheir concerns and worries about some students'pursuit of fashiorinstead of concentrating onschoolwork. The Student Union is going to organize a debate orwhetherstudents shouldfollowfashiontrends.Adebate onthis topicwill be held in your class first. The following steps may help youwiththeproject.Stepl:FormgroupsForm groups of three people. 3 / 5 Following trends? At a school meeting, quite a few teachers and students expressed their concerns and worries about some students’ pursuit of fashion instead of concentrating on schoolwork. The Student Union is going to organize a debate on whether students should follow fashion trends. A debate on this topic will be held in your class first. The following steps may help you with the project. Step1: Form groups Form groups of three people. Each group will debate with another group. Choose a side. The pro team will argue for “University students should follow trends,” while the con team will argue against the statement. Step 2: Brainstorming Think of the reasons why we should or should not follow trends. Step 3: Write an outline Each team writes an outline based on the brainstorm. For example: Outline Your position: _ Argument 1: _ Supporting evidence: _ Argument 2: _ Supporting evidence: _ Argument 3: _ Supporting evidence: _ Step 4: Decide the order Decide on the order of speakers. Each speaker will have two minutes to present their statements and supporting evidence

During their speech, the speaker may counter-argue the previousspeaker' s point.Step 5:DebateStart the debate. The debate will follow the order like this:1 The first speakerfrom each teambriefly statestheirmainarguments.2 The second speaker from each team presents further argumentsand supporting evidence.3 Free debate for five minutes.
