Unit Four:A Man from Stratford William Shakespeare I.Teaching objectives To help studentst anticipate with interest the life of William Shakespeare and his plays and comedies in different periods. To acquaint the students with basic knowledge of Stratford the hometown of William Shake acquaint the students understand how the writer uses the technique of flashback to describe the life of William Shakespeare. To help students master the use of double negation. To supply students with opportunities to practice their basic language skills. Time Allocation and Teaching Procedure: About 4sessions(8 class hours)are needed for this unit. Is session 1.Pre-reading questions: ◆ Test students on the background reading materials and see if they have a general idea about the life of William Shakespeare and his career. Ask how Shakespeare is related students to think of some of Shakespeare's plays and comedies in different periods 2.Study of Text I: Ask students to point out the specific words that are used in the text to achieve the ‘emotional’tone. Ask students to sum up the main idea of the text.
