Ask students to point out words,phrases or sentences in the text that indicate that the style is informal Ask students to give examples in the text to understand the ways the writer uses to develop his argument 3.Assignment ◆Review Text I Preview Text II 2nd session 1.Continuation of the study of Text I: Allow students some time to ask questions on the text. Focus on language points of the text. 2.Study of Text II: Ask questions on Text II to help students better understand the function of second-hand bookshops. Acquaint the students with different types of books. 3.Assignment Review Text I and Text II. Time Allocation and Teaching Procedure: About 4 sessions (8 class hours) are needed for this unit. 1 st session 1. Pre-reading questions: Test students on the background reading materials and see if they know anything of the importance of choosing good and right books for extensive reading, and at the same time talk about the main idea of the text. 2. Study of Text I: Ask students to point out words, phrases or sentences in the text that summarizes the main idea of each paragraph and sum up the main idea of the whole text. Ask students to point out words, phrases or sentences in the text that indicate that the style is informal.
