Green logistics refers to when damage to environment is restrained in the course of logistics, the purification of logistics environment and making logistics resources to its full use. The purpose of green logistics is to realize economic benefits of certain subject, and at the same time, to look after saving resources, protecting environment especially. The aim has both economic and social characteristics. Ecological environment and sustainable economy call for green logistics. So green logistics strategy has become highest priority. II. DEVELOPMENT STATUS AND PROBLEMS OF CHINA’S GREEN LOGISTICS Because China's logistics industry starts late, enterprises are lack of awareness of the importance of modern logistics. The goal of the construction of enterprise logistics system are primarily to reduce costs and improve effectiveness and efficiency. Some enterprises have begun to recognize the

environmentalproblemsoflogistics,buttheunderstandingofthegreenlogisticsisstillverylimitedA.HardwarePolicies and regulations are not sound China is still lack of relevant policies and regulations onlogistics, and lack of mandatory environmental management capabilities on logistics system.Technology is outdated, and management level is low at present, the integrity and compatibility ofinfrastructure facilities of China's logistics are still relatively poor. Logistics technology andequipment are still in low level. TheGreen Logistics Management stressed the overall situation and long-term interests, emphasizedall-round concern for the environment, reflected the green image of the corporation, which is a newtrend in logistics management.Green logistics is adapted to the requirements of sustainabledevelopment.B.Significant Meaning of Realizing the Interaction betweenGreen Logistics and Sustainable Development It is inevitable to consume energy and resourcesduring the logistics process, and result in environmental pollution. So we must take all measures toprotect the natural environment for achieving long-term and sustainable development. Modern GreenLogisticsManagementisbasedonthetheoryof sustainable development,whichformedtherelationship of promotion and constraint between logistics and the environment. In accordance with the ultimate goal of green logistics no matter what the strategicmanagement or thetactical management is, the enterprise should proceed from the basicprinciple ofpromoting the sustainable economic development. At the same time of creating the space efficiencyand the time efficiency of the goods and meeting the consumer's demand, the enterprise should payattention to the eco-environmental requirements and protect the natural ecological balance and naturalresources, then leave the right of survival and development for future generations.Reducing the cost greatly Green Logistics is the necessary way to minimize operating costs.However, the current logistics is still of the operation mode of high-input and large scale, or low-inputand small scale. But green logistics emphasizes the mode of low-input and large scale. Obviously,green logistics is not only saving and reducing costs as general logistics, but also paying moreattention to greening and the result of saving energy, high efficiency and low pollution. Its function ofsaving the cost of production and operation is immeasurable.Therefore, strengthening the establishment and improvement of green logistics, and achieving the

consumption, achieving sustainable development. All of these request the logistics enterprises to be charged with the social responsibility in the production and operation activities, and co-ordinate the development of the natural environment and the social environment with the logistics activities. So that the logistics activities are propitious to the environmentally virtuous cycle and development. overall optimization of logistics system and minimum damage to the environment will be conducive to raising the level of China's logistics management. The policies of environmental protection and sustainable development have great significance for China's economic development. V. GREEN LOGISTICS STRATEGIES BASED ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT A. Establishing the Concept of Green Logistics According to population policy and education concept based on sustainable development, to improve people’s quality includes both scientific education level and renovation ability, and enhancing propaganda and education on sustainable development ethics and moral concepts, raising the public’s environment awareness and resource consciousness. To be adopted to this strategy, green logistics should include propagating environmental consciousness to the public, consumers, enterprises staff, establishing incentive mechanism of environmental achievement and to cultivate environmental culture of enterprises. Realization proves that investment on staff for training environmental knowledge and educational programmer sometimes shows much more effective than on environmental technology. Resources consumption should be reduced during logistics process with new method. Under the guidance of sustainable development strategy, it will be the statutory obligation of enterprises to reclaim, reuse and recycle the waste. So the logistics system of enterprises must be rebuilt accordingly by not only considering to provide fast and amicable coordination logistics service to preceding supply chain, but also thinking about the logistics network of reclaiming, renovating and reforming to reuse and recycle. That is to say, the cyclic logistics system must be established to be the foundation of ever-lasting application of resources for sustainable development. C. Achieving Green Supply Chain Strategy Along with development of logistics and supply chain management, the effect of logistics on supply chain becomes intensive and so does on the environment of supply chain. The environment strategy of sustainable development requires that the whole process from raw material supply to producing, packing, transporting, selling, using should let out minimum pollutant to natural resources and have minimized influence on city traffic environment. Along with people’s awareness of

environment protection, consumers pursue not only environmental style of product and its package,alongwith amicablecoordinationfortheprocessofpurchasingand utilizing.Thus,environmentmustbe the vital decision variable of enterprises to reform the whole supply chain, to adapt it toenvironmental request of sustainable development by achieving green supply chain strategy.D.Carrying out Green Logistics OperationTwenty-first century is green century.
