1.Amild steel simplysupported stress freeplateelement 10mm thick,900mm wideand2700mmlongiscompresseduniformlyonitsshortedges.Evaluatetheminimumelasticbuckling stress.Inwhatmodedoesthisoccur?Whatwould be the elastic buckling stress in the first mode?2.FromQ1,Evaluate the maximum plate strength if , = 230 N/mm? , and indicate the postbuckling strength as a percentage of the minimum elastic buckling stress.3
1.A mild steel simply supported stress free plate element 10 mm thick, 900 mm wide and 2700 mm long is compressed uniformly on its short edges. Evaluate the minimum elastic buckling stress. In what mode does this occur? What would be the elastic buckling stress in the first mode? 2.From Q1, Evaluate the maximum plate strength if y 230 N/mm2 , and indicate the post buckling strength as a percentage of the minimum elastic buckling stress. 3
