On the basis of and in add ition to this, it will also help the students to read some selected first-hand western Marxist texts, such as chapters from History and Class Consciousness and Dialectic of Enlightenment. Through the careful read ing of the texts. the students would be encouraged to think more about the western marxists critique of modernity, their reinterpretation of the relationship between German idealism and Marx's philosophy and their arguments about the vital relevance of Marx's philosophy to the contemporary world
