7.1 Introduction By definition,columns are structural members which are subjected mainly to axial forces and very little transverse shear. Composite action in columns utilizes the favorable tensile and compressive characteristics of the steel and concrete,respectively.Complete interaction between the structural components of the column,the steel and concrete elements,is achieved through direct interface bond. Two basic types of composite columns are used in buildings:encased composite columns型钢混凝士柱 and concrete filled composite columns钢管混凝土柱
