She had high hopes for Carnegie and had always encouraged him to study hard. In 1908 , Carnegie was still poor , but he was a far cry from (与.有很大差别) the day he had entered teacher's college two years earlier. He became the man of the hour (风 云人物)in the whole academy . The teachers and students of the whole school sit up and take notice of him (刮 目相看); But he wasn't satisfied with that, he began to step outside the academy to expand his speaking influence. · His original goal was to get a degree at school and then return to his hometown and teach in school. But the year before he graduated, he found out that one of his classmates doing the sales work and could earn good wages(工资) So, after graduated from college in 1908, he chose to become a salesman to earn more money.
