2.1 The Scientific Paper A Research paper has a formal structure normally consisting of at least the sections Introduction, Experimental (or Materials Processes), Results and discussions To begin writing, it helps to write down under each of the sections, a summary or skeletal form of the section. This may be in point form. The summaries under the appropriate sections establish the central structure of the paper. The student can then later elaborate on each of the sections To help writing the sections, bear in mind the main objectives of each section
