Unit 16 Description (II) I.Teaching Aims 1.To Master the useful words and expressions in this unit, 2.To Master necessary listening skills, 3.To listen and understand some materials about description, 4.To master sentence structures and adjectives that are often used in describing things and person. Step Two Micro-listening 1.Play the tape recorder for the students.Ask the students to pay attention to the adjectives. 2.Check the answers. Step Three Macro-listening 1.Explain the new wordsand expressions (l)handsome(adj)good--looking,.of pleasing appearance英俊的 (2)creative(adj,)having or showing imagination有创造性的 (3)neighborhood(n.)an area where people live near one another,community 坊 (4)patient (adj.)able to accept delay,annoyance,etc.without complaining 的 (⑤)from behind:from the back of从后l面 (6)snatch(v.)take hold of sth.suddenly and without warning (7)roughly(adv.)not exactly大约,粗略地 (8)knock sb.dowm:push sb.to the ground把某人撞倒 (9)calm down:to stop being excited镇静下来 2.Play the tape recorder for the students. 3.Check the answers 4.Language and culture notes. (1)And his paintings sell well Many people want to buy his painting.When something sells well,it is in great demand. (2)Come on an expression used in colloquial English to encourage someone to do something (3)Just calm down a minute.When you calm down,you stop feeling anxious,upset or angry.You often use"a minute"to mean a short time. Step Four Oral Practice 1.Ask the students to do the Exercise of"Making Appropriate Responses"in pairs 2.Listen to the conversationl,2 again,and finish the Pair Work. Step Five Home Listening
